Making It Happen: A Fundraiser on December 9

On December 9, Face-to-Face AIDS Project will be hosting a special fundraiser to help raise $125,000 to build a community center in Siem Riep.  The center will house a wealth of exciting programs, including a school for impoverished children, arts and culture clubs, vocational training for adults, and test plots and ponds for organic gardens and fish farming.

To build this center, F2F has partnered with SCC who has worked in Siem Reap, the World Heritage site of the famous temples of Angkor, one of the most popular tourist destinations of Southeast Asia. Supporting a large territory of 147 villages, SCC provides valuable assistance to over 350 HIV-positive people, 1,000 orphans and vulnerable children, and hundreds of the area’s poorest households.

The center will be built on a 2-acre-site about 5 km from the center of Siem Reap, in a semi-rural district that is home to many very poor villages. While development and tourism brings in a lot of money to the area, little if any directly assists the poor. For large numbers of people, like the HIV-positive Pov Vichet and her 2 children (shown above), escaping the cycle of poverty is impossible without knowledge, skills, and support.

Right now we are also offering the opportunity for anyone to become a Founding Donor of the new center in Siem Reap. Your investment will provide thousands of impoverished families the chance to improve their lives and become future leaders in their communities.
