Who We Are
A letter from the director
Thank you for letting us introduce the Face-to-Face AIDS Project.
When we started out in 2003, our mission was to document the AIDS pandemic in Africa by photographing and interviewing scores of people. This gave us the faces and stories that helped us raise awareness in the United States.
But we felt we needed to do more. We felt a responsibility to give back to the people who so generously shared their lives with us. We believe that profound change comes from helping a community help itself. And the best way to do this is to nurture an honest, compassionate, and creative mindset. More than targeting a specific problem, an impoverished community benefits the most when it has the ability to improve itself from within. We’re committed to holistic projects that raise the quality of life — even if only by a small margin — of everyone in a community.
We honor the responsibility we have when we’re entrusted with your support. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of accounting transparency. And we value honest reporting, for we know that true development arises from overcoming setbacks and challenges. We want our programs to continue to grow, to be sustainable, and to inspire on their own. Our heartfelt thanks for your support,
Ken Wong, Director
The Face-to-Face AIDS Project
